I've noticed if you get promoted etc your players are automatically given massive wage hikes, which obliterates any improved wage structure. I've just taken the Derby job, recently promoted to the prem. Brought in a new manager on 120k a week, still got £1.2m to spend on wages, great stuff.
The transfer window opens, and bam! I've only got 50k wages left, my new manager is somehow on £240k, my assistant who was on 60k is now on 120k etc. Players are the same, huge increases. No mention of it anywhere, and the process of building a new team has become much harder without having to sell almost everyone and start a rebuild - not to mention the mental transfer process where you'll be getting offers of about 12 pence back for every player valued at £5m 😂
You will see from the image above that all players and staff have a promotion/relegation increase and decrease in their contract clauses. So if you were promoted to the premier league then all staff and players receive a 60% increase to their current contract. Promotion clauses are fairly standard in football.
That's fair enough - I must have missed this previously and it explains most of what I've mentioned so thank you for pointing it out , but what about the staff I brought in after they'd already been promoted such as the manager etc?
So you brought in staff before the transfer window? I'll look into that as the routine to upgrade the wages is done at 30th June so effectively it would of given them an increase as well which would be unfair
Yea, basically I got sacked (personally i think the board where a little harsh, it was a hell of a run in to my relegation haha) and then my agent found me a new job immediately - and it was probably about a week into my reign that I brought in the new manager.
Thanks for getting back to me and apologies for my moan haha
not at all, thanks for pointing it out as the increase shouldnt apply if you have just brought the manager in
I'm struggling to work out the 60% wage increase. My team had an average wage of around 7,000 per week in the championship and we got promoted to the Premier league. 60% works out at an extra 4200 per week, yet my squad got massive wage hikes and they now average 58,000 per week, an increase of 828%!
Completely wiped out my new budget.
Yea I've noticed this recently too, a 15k a week star player jumped to around the 60k mark when the hike should have only been 9k taking him to 24,000.
I think there might be a wage ranking system in the background regardless of the 60% message I.e. this skill level gets this wage etc. I might be wrong though.
